Germany look well and truly ready for the U18 European Championship for Women Division B to get under way after routing Luxembourg 93-31 in a friendly game.
The completely lopsided victory came in Heidelberg as both teams went through their paces for the final time before the tournament.
Luxembourg hung with Germany through the very early stages, with the score at 15-12, but Germany then reeled off 22 unanswered points to go in at half-time with a 46-15 lead.
The Germans did not let up using a 32-5 run to pile further misery on Luxembourg, who must wish there was another month to go before the tournament starts this week.
Coach Alex Maerz was delighted with her squad's development as they head to Romania.
"We have had a demanding preparation, during which it has become clear that we can close the gap on the top European teams," she said.
"But we have also seen that many other teams in Division B have made big strides. We have been able to compensate for those missing from the squad and have developed well. Given the difficult group we have, we will need to put in a top performance in every game and continue the positive trend we are on."
Germany are in Group B are will come up against Croatia, Denmark and Bosnia & Herzegovina. |
